The main goals of top-down racism

Image
One of the main goals of racism is not just simply to marginalise a particular race, but to manage and narrow their aspirations. Once that is accomplished, racism isn't felt. The victim will simply cease to aspire to that which has earlier been determined to be the privilige of another.  Thereafter, a chinese-style 'harmony' is brought about where everyone 'gets along' knowing and accepting and not aspiring beyond their 'rightful place' in society.  That is one of the underlying values of Confucianism for instance. Another significant aim of racism is to turn the privileged race against the idea of difference in itself. By getting them to go against their own natural human instinct and ignore difference in culture and race has the effect of disabling their generic ability to appreciate difference itself, and reality from different angles. That in itself will render them more receptive to the one-sided mass-underdevelopmental vision of any fascist...

Are Singaporean Racists ready for a Non-Chinese PM?

Image
L et's face it, from the first, and late PM, Lee Kuan Yew, to Lee's Son, the current PM Lee Hsien Loong, they've always used the 'singaporeans are not ready for a non-chinese PM' story to keep the Indians and Malays out, perpetuate chinese chauvinism, and the rule of the PAP that is based on chinese chauvinism itself.  This was especially the case from the late 1980s when the PAP begin a zealous chinesification campaign in singapore to put an end to the multiculturalism that was bringing the different races together and increasing the collective intelligence and political vibrancy. And now we have a Heng Swee Kiat, put forth as the next PM, saying that 'older singaporeans aren't ready for a non-chinese PM'.  That is like saying, "i'm sorry, but we Chinese PMs need to consider the views of the racists in our race more than the non-racists."  If what these 3 say is true, that is an admittance, or claim, that singaporean chinese are...

Happy Year of the Sheep

Image
The reason why i do not like the 'chinese new year'. The cny is more of a 'coping and apathy-reinforcing mechanism' that enables the people to put up with, and perpetuate, the oppressive circumstances that gave birth to it. P utting it simply, when there is enough top-down oppression that has been left unquestioned - as is the case in chinese history for more than 2000 years - a culture results that enables one to survive within it. It defines the idea of 'success', plots the trajectory of a people's aspirations as an individual and collective; defines the source of motivation; determines how people view and treat one another; determines the degree to which difference is discriminated against; and basically forms the paradigm and prism through which reality is made sense of. Here is a simple equation illustrating this - top-down exploitative and oppressive circumstances > increases financial pressures and reduces thought > increases and entrenches mutu...
