The Issue of China vs Taiwan, resolved

Image
The issue is a very simple one.  Taiwan doesn't belong to the China Chinaman or the Chinaman residing in Taiwan.  The existing chinese living in Taiwan are migrants-colonialists who came there circa 17th century.  It is not their country of origin or long tenancy, or ancient tenancy.   So China's claim to Taiwan can basically be shoved up their rear ends ass and when they can convince themselves to finally arise from their dinner tables.  This squabble is basically between 2 chinamen over someone ELSE'S possession.  (even in singapore, the racist, fascist, eugenicist, late PM, Lee Kuan Yew, claimed it for the chinese by saying singapore would be better off without its natives and the indians. When the country became prosperous, he falsely linked it to it being due to the state having a chinese majority, and thus perpetuated and legitimised chinese racism.  The chinese in asia obviously have a problem respecting other people's possessions an...

Happy Year of the Sheep

Image
The reason why i do not like the 'chinese new year'. The cny is more of a 'coping and apathy-reinforcing mechanism' that enables the people to put up with, and perpetuate, the oppressive circumstances that gave birth to it. P utting it simply, when there is enough top-down oppression that has been left unquestioned - as is the case in chinese history for more than 2000 years - a culture results that enables one to survive within it. It defines the idea of 'success', plots the trajectory of a people's aspirations as an individual and collective; defines the source of motivation; determines how people view and treat one another; determines the degree to which difference is discriminated against; and basically forms the paradigm and prism through which reality is made sense of. Here is a simple equation illustrating this - top-down exploitative and oppressive circumstances > increases financial pressures and reduces thought > increases and entrenches mutu...

Xingapore and Sinonazism in s.e.Asia

Image
It's interesting to know that xingapore's cable and broadband companies are sort of partnering with China's telecom firms like 'hwa wei' as well. Wonder when these people are going to grow up, get egalitarian, and stop sticking to their own - and stop caring about falling chinese birth rates as if that is an issue in what is supposed to be a multicultural state. And, by the way, the U.S. has issued alerts against Hwa Wei and ZTE as security threats and possibly linked to China's government and military. related article on BBC - China's love-hate relationship with what is foreign Singapore, after all, is going to fast-track china's citizens into taking over the rest of the region But i suppose in the chinese supremacist state of xingapore, that is not a problem. (calling it a ‘chinese supremacist’ state is not an ‘opinion’ but a matter of definition, i.e. stating that singapore must always have a chinese majority; that our 'mother tongue will be mand...

Why East Asian Students Aren't Superior

Image
"American parents looking to send their children to the world’s best schools might want to start looking East. And by that, we don’t mean the East Coast. East Asia is now home to the world’s best primary and secondary schools, producing students who are able to outperform their counterparts in the Western world, according to a recent report from the Grattan Institute, a think tank based in Australia. - Wall Street Journal " ed’s comment at WSJ: I come from singapore, and i can say that they are ‘superior’ in the sense of being able to learn formulae, memorise, and regurgitate. But as innovative, inventive, and out-of-the-box thinkers, from my experience, a mediocre student in the UK beats the ‘superior’ students of the east. It is the socio-cultural experience that enables one to make more of education as opposed to education serving as a ceiling. In that, the UK for example, beats the straight ‘As’ of the east. At the end of the day, it is the social curriculum that adds val...

Lee senior thinks Chinese culture is superior. So does a2ed.

Is Chinese Culture superior to Indian Culture? Well, according to Lee Senior, it is. And I have to agree to some extent. Yes. Chinese culture is superior. To some extent, or in some respects. It does seem superior, compared to Indian culture, when it comes to producing minds that aren’t well-adept in what i would term multi-angular thinking - looking at things from different angles. I suppose that is to be expected since Confucianism-cum-Legalism tends to emphasise tradition, conformity and subservience - which together i would term ‘kow-towism’. Whether one applies such a system within a nation or a single family, one cannot argue with the fact that a combination of the above cannot but produce relatively docile minds unless it is applied for the purpose of undoing itself. For instance, emphasising a tradition of independent inquiry; conformity to a popular spirit of continuous doubt and revision; and subservience to the notion that the precondition of humanity is infallibi...
