America isn't a monolithic unchanging phenomenon. It compromises different Americas who would view each other as foreigners if they weren't divided by time, or united and hoodwinked through the love of their kids and grandkids. You often hear about old movies being 'rebooted', old products given a 'reboot' don't you. I find the juvenilisation of language to be most annoying. They tend to use what i would term, 'reactive' language, which isn't surprising since the young are prone to reaction over thought, immediate and shallow gratification, and are severely underexposed. Orwell spoke about how people can be made stupid through the contraction of vocabulary. Most insightful. You know, i've stopped watching Tamil (south Indian) movies for the past 5 years - and if i do, it is largely stuff produced in the 90s and before.  Why?   Tamil movies used to be a welcome break from contemporary American movies, as Tamils, unlike Americans, focus on detailed dialogue, they have lots of wit, lots of philosophical debates.  That is why i watched them in the past.  When it comes to storyline, it is as predictable as the lottery results of a year ago.  The song and dance is fine, especially if the songs were from the 90s and before, as that, unlike what the blacks think is 'soul music', is REALLY soul music. I've been watching The Punisher series on Netflix over the past week. I keep seeing this silly word all over the place (oh dear, the american juvenile again...).  Well, I finally searched for its meaning, and discovered that it is supposed to mean, 'not impressive', or a nonchalant monosyllabic ejaculation of disinterest.  So an expressive ejaculation by an ill-educated american teen who's inclined toward reaction as opposed to cogitation becomes a word.  I see. I was talking to an acquaintance of mine when he remarked, "You're a Jew."  When i asked why, he said, "You're smart!  You're like a Jew!".
