Jewish, NOT 'Israeli', please

Image
'Celebrate Israel' Parade in New York Why should we use 'Jewish' or 'Jew' in place of 'Israeli'   For 3 reasons. 1.  to recognise the name 'israel' or 'israeli' is to recognise the right of the Jews to colonise and ethically-cleanse the region at the expense of the Palestinians and others.  Would you recognise the name given to your children by a kidnapper who had taken him?  If so, does that not validate the actions of the kidnapper?  Same goes here. 2.  When you talk about 'Jewish occupation of Palestine', or the 'Jews killing Palestinians', instead of 'israeli occupation of Palestine', or 'israelis killing Palestinians', it tends to cast all Jews in a bad light.  That is an opportunity for the Jews globally to assert that they have nothing to do with what's going on in Palestine, and they do not support it.  This will undermine the foundations of what is pushed forth, and even recognised by the so-ca...

Attacks on Muslims in NZ an extreme example of global normalised Imperialist attitudes

Image
These attacks on the Mosques in New Zealand are just a more extreme reaction by vigilantes, but whose approach toward Muslims is constantly witnessed in comments on fb, the governments of the west and their global supporters terming retaliatory attacks against them as 'terrorism'. U nderlying it all is a globalised white supremacist attitude - shared even by non-whites across the globe - that is founded on the belief that the 'superior' west has a right to dispose of the lives of others as and when it is to their interests, , and all resistance from 'inferior' peoples are deemed to be 'terrorism'. This serves as the foundation upon which more extreme reactions are founded, i.e. those who conducted these attacks on the mosques. I have found, over a couple of decades of observaton, study, and personal experience, that the Chinese in s.e.asia (excluding the chinese reared in the west) are no different in their approach toward humanity as well as witnessed...

Why the UK Can't Revoke ex-ISIS Shamima's Citizenship

Image
Britain has decided to revoke British, Shamima Begum's citizenship because she joined ISIS. 1. The UK Home Office is arguing that Shamima has another (Bangladeshi) citizenship (which the family has denied), so they are still observing International Law by depriving her of her British citizenship as that would still enable her to return to her other alleged nationality.  Whether this is true or not is irrelevant.  The first point - that a citizen is subject to the laws of the state is paramount.  To refuse to subject a person to their laws and yet revoke her citizenship citizenship is a contradiction where one is being told simultaneously that one is not eligible to be punished under the law, but is to be punished by having their citizenship revoked.  2. When a person is granted citizenship, they are given equality with ALL citizens, be they descendents of many generations of 'locals' or not.  To treat Shamima differently is to cast ALL naturalised citizens as 2n...

'Terrorism' and respecting the right to retaliate

Image
Simon Sammut: How's that latest wave of cultural diversity working out for you Germany Ed: Before more guys go all 'terminator' on refugees, etc, take a look at your own history books to see who started the ball-rolling. Cranston Greg: Oh that makes it ok then Jonny Knight: That's right. Ignore the current problem because we should still be feeling guilty for the actions of our ancestors. Riley Nichols: Another self hating leftist Ben Hawes: We aren't allowed to defend ourselves against Islamic terrorists today because history? Seems legit Chris Austin: Ottoman empire anyone? Ed: Cranston Greg, is retaliation ok? Or do you think like your colonial predecessors that those who throw a spear in the face of musket fire are 'savages'?

If you thought it was ok to ‘retaliate’ after 9/11, so why begrudge them a similar right in the face of your actions in the middle east?  I’m just using your own standards - except that it wasn’t the middle east that has be...

Paris Attacks and The 3-Dimensionalising of The West

Image
“   Our Consciousness of an atrocious act determines the degree to which it conflicts with our Conscience. The less explicit the act, the less conscious we are of it, and the less it conflicts with our conscience. What a beautifully mephistophelean equation. Ask yourself, "How do I feel after seeing the above?"  What if you were given just statistics instead of all of the above?  How would you feel then? I have to admit, reading these accounts really got my stomach turned. The word, 'Terrible', isn't enough to appreciate these horrendous atrocities in Paris. But, that's the problem isn't it. When i read about how US-UK embargoes killed half a million children in Iraq via embargoes, or this or that drone attack, or invasion, etc, I am just given the information, and statistics. “   This is what I term, 'the 3 dimensionalising' of such deaths in the west, whilst others are just a uni-dimensional statistical print on paper. But when it comes to 9/...

The Fundamental Cause of 'Terrorism'

Image
Well, what is said in the above statement is not untrue. But what is not said is that the Tsunami from the seas that flood the shores of the w.Europeans is caused by a boulder tossed by them.  In a sense, this agitation by these so-called 'terrorists' is actually a call for 'accountability', or a result of the absence of it.  Basically, if a government wants to involve itself in the socio-political-cultural climate of a region, determine the composition of its local authority, impose sanctions and life-threatening embargoes, the populace needs to be represented in the associated parliament that government hails from, and the borders of that nation-state must also be opened to those fleeing the evils of that state or the viciousness of the sanctions of the meddling state.  The peoples of the meddling state cannot be relied upon to exert humanitarian and effective pressures on their governments because they are more forgiving of their governments when they do greater evil...

On ‘terror apologists‘ and ‘being British’

Image
"Apologists" for those who commit acts of terrorism are partly responsible for the violence, Philip Hammond has said. - bbc

Flipmode (211 likes): This just goes to prove these apologists will never agree to our way of life, so why are they here? It always the same religious group blaming everyone else for the barbaric acts that THEIR people carry out. Yet , they only ever speak out when they feel like it, you don’t hear a word about the beheadings, child abuse etc etc, They seem to except that as the norm. Alan (171 likes) : Who is to blame that Emwazi did not think the he belonged in the UK ONLY Emwazi. ALL those from ethnic minorities, especially those from Middlee East, Pakistan and Bangladesh, must embrace british culture.
Keep their religion but discard all the closed community culture. Aphoristic (1 like): Again all the most accurate views today are the "lowest rated"... It's a bit of a right wing Daily Hate sleaze fest on HYS today.... Was there an...

Je suis Charlie et Muhammad

Image
I'm Catholic, but This is not about the freedom of speech. It's about the freedom to be a right-wing, self-absorbed, Eurocentric, ass****. For myself, i'm Charlie and Muhammad. Mutual respect and love please. And let's not decontextualise this situation. The cartoons are just the cherry on a cake of historical western colonial abuse of the non-western netherworld. The cartoons are an insult in addition to a long-standing injury afflicted on the Arab/Islamic world. I'm not saying that the attacks are right. Certainly not. However, when you keep injuring another, we cannot be shocked when we are slapped back. I'm explaining it, not justifying it, by the way. * Free speech. Interesting topic. Free speech as a child; or free speech as an adult; or free speech as an empathetic, thoughtful human being? I'm for the lattermost of the three. Of course, freedom of speech is curtailed when i choose the third. Because then i can't rant like a child, or just ...

Singaporeans upset about Indonesian naming ships after their ‘heroes’? Why?

Image
Indonesian military officers have pulled out of a Singapore aerospace show amid a row over the controversial naming of a naval warship. Indonesia angered its neighbour by naming the new ship after two marines who carried out a bombing which killed three people in Singapore in 1965. Singapore's second minister for defence said he was "disappointed" with Indonesia's naming decision. Jakarta defended the move saying it was customary to name vessels after heroes. - bbc In conversation, Ed: I don't see what the fuss is about. The chinese fascist government of singapore had no problem erecting a statue of mass-murdering chinese premiere, Deng Xiao Ping in singapore. And anyway, the attack was on Malaysia, not singapore - as singapore was a part of Malaysia then. So this issue is actually a non-issue. The singapore government is just trying to flex its paltry muscles regionally. Silly fellas. Kelvin Leong: while I may not agree 100% with the way my government handled t...

11/9, from 'Savagery' to 'Terrorism'

Image
Every September 11, we are reminded that it was ‘terrorism‘ that brought down the Twin Towers in New York.  We are fed with a barrage of documentaries that 3-dimensionalises the victims and heroes of the tragedy.  The twins who died there, the lovers who died there, the heroic firemen, the parents who grieved, et cetera , et cetera , et cetera .  I suppose it is easier to sympathise and empathise with people even more when they are presented upfront and personal.  I mean, that is why we are always glad when the baddies get killed in terrible ways in american movies because the victims are oftentimes presented as more than just faceless victims.

But that does not happen with, say, the close to half a million children who died in Iraq thanks to u.s. Sponsored medical embargoes over 10 years, which, the u.s. Ambassador, Madeline Albright, said, ‘was worth the price’.  I don’t see documentaries dedicated to the twins who died, or the dreams of some of the c...

Understanding 'Terrorism'

Image
Radical cleric Abu Qatada is being held in a high security jail near the Jordanian capital Amman, after being deported from the UK. His plane left RAF Northolt at 02:46 BST for his home country, where he appeared in court to be charged with terror offences, which he denies. Prime Minister David Cameron said he was "delighted" at his removal. Abu Qatada was first arrested in the UK over alleged terror connections in 2001 and has fought deportation since 2005. bbc I don't get this 'terrorism' thing. Wasn't it an 'act of terror' when u.s. sponsored embargoes killed close to half a million children in Iraq? Is the colonial, 'we are white ergo right' still going on? Going by many comments here, it seems to be the case. The best way to get rid of terrorism is to not incite it with terrorism. I don't understand how people can kill people and call them terrorists when they retaliate. Gross self-absorption and arrogance perhaps. Most times, terroris...
