The significance of iPad's missing USB slot

Sometimes, it is what we buy into today that determines what innovations are left out tomorrow

That's about the size of it.  When people started buying the Ipod Nano - which basically gave you less space for more money - I knew that this didn't bode well for the 'innovations' of the morrow.  That basically slowed down technological progress or else we would have seen large storage spaces in smaller sizes today, and the larger storage spaces that are available in smaller sizes today much earlier.

You could say that Apple is one of the greatest evils of our times, and Jobs, one of the greatest of the devil's minions, not because it is evil per se, but because it's products are popular enough to be used as a medium to compromise the objective sense and sensibilities of many.Profit is paramount in capitalism.  That is why, as there is no immediate profit from feeding the hungry or poverty-stricken areas, 4000 children die every day in certain parts of the world - whilst Apple hoards more money that the u.s. treasury.  And they make the likes of Steve Jobs into a saint and make October 16, Steve Jobs Day, in california - thus basically rendering them blameless for a whole slew of global evils.

When profit is paramount, the main thing that is going to protect us from its consequences is consumer awareness and solidarity.  We need to band together and say no to sub-standard products (that does not include what it is supposed to for the purpose of generating more profit) and not view them as quality because our stupid buying choices of yesterday has made sub-standard products the standard. of today  When people are trained to be smart in their choices, they are going to get enough of an objective sense of things to start heading the movement to clear up lots of the evils in the world.

You could say that Apple is one of the greatest evils of our times, and Jobs, one of the greatest of the devil's minions, not because it is evil per se, but because it's products are popular enough to be used as a medium to compromise the objective sense and sensibilities of many.  If we can be un-objective in that which is highly popular, we aren't going to be very objective in more significant global matters are we.

  1. I agree that there should be a usb slot.... There is no reason they shouldn't put on or as you say, something even better, in it. USB is quite standard these days, and competitors do/will have it

  2. Great that you are like-minded on this issue mate. If you are 'TheTechLabs', i'm glad that you're supportive of this given that techies are generally more fixated on the popular and new as opposed to the justice of it.;)
