Science, and the 7th Sense

There is more to science and reality that can be discerned by your 5 senses alone.  The wiser will know that one cannot know reality via their 5 senses, but rather, their knowledge of reality is LIMITED by their 5 senses. 

When Edwin Hubble said, 'Science is the one human activity that is truly progressive.', he is simultaneously implying, albeit unwittingly, that all that it is the western definition of science ought to be what science is all about. 

It also lays claim to the idea of 'human' and 'progressive', thus stating implicitly that their idea of 'science' should encompass ALL human understanding of it, and our path to progress in it should determine the direction of all humanity's pursuit of it. 

And that is how an erroneous thought can be 'transmitted from generation to generation.' and has been.  When one claims a definition of something, one excludes all other definitions.  And if one has cultural hegemony, that leads to all others discarding all that doesn't fit with such a definition, and the pool and potential of humanity severely contracts.  That is why, it would be more than plausible to assume that the what we are today is only a shadow of what we could have been.

One talks about the 5 senses, but forgets about the 6th sense.  No, i'm not talking about Extra Sensory Perception.  I'm talking about the uniqueness of the histories of various peoples.  That is the 6th sense, the human mind, that is a product of its own historical, cultural, personal, experience.  You can either look at it as an inbuilt defect, and Original Sin, and do something about it, or celebrate it and enforce it as culture to all and render everyone equally debilitated - which is what has happened.  This 6th Sense sense both enables certain perspectives, whilst disabling others.  It opens one eye, and blinds another.  That is the 6th sense, that determines and limits the degree to which we are able to use our 5 senses with acuity.  It is this 6th sense that produces 'Science'.  

Science is a Eurocentric enterprise that seeks to simultaneously discover and deny reality according to the limitations of tools produced by a Eurocentric, and hence, limited history.  Our 5 senses is limiting enough.  Why exacerbate matters by limiting it further with a limited history? 

We need to pay attention to the 7th, the Godly number. 

That 7th sense is the hysterical laughter from the heavens in the face of man's claim to certainty, or the means by which certainty might be delivered.  The 7th sense is multiculturalism.  It is the only means that enables one to regain from another history and culture what one's own history and culture has made one lose, AND vice versa.  The 7th sense is the phrase in the Bible that says the 'God made man in His Image', which means that the best elements of all cultures comprises that image.  That, truly, is the Final Frontier.    

The limitation of our 6 senses, impose the perpetual need for skepticism in the face of a certainty delivered by the insistence that reality can only be known by the few tools we have developed.   

 

The white man constructs a microscope, and then tells you that if you can't see God with it, then God doesn't exist.  Secularism and Atheism.  It makes me laugh.
